What a crazy week!

So I went back to work Monday and let me tell you what a change that's been! Words can't even describe how exhausted I was all week long! It was definitely nice to be back though and Carter did fairly well. The first two days weren't so good, lots of fussiness. But as the week progressed, so did he. It's definitely going to take him some time to get adjusted to the work environment versus the home life! Needless to say, we're very glad the weekend is here. Brent doesn't have to work this weekend so we've just been lounging around all day...it's been glorious! Then again, there wasn't much we could get out and do today anyway because of the snow! I can't believe we are getting this kind of weather when April is nearly here! I wonder if Carter will like to play in the snow when he gets bigger? I hope so! We got Carter's pics back on Thursday....click here to view them. I think they turned out great! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend :)

Thankful

As I sit here at the computer, holding my little boy, (typing with one hand), I realize how lucky I am. I have a beautiful, healthy baby boy, a terrific husband, two sets of wonderful loving parents, a loving & supporting family, and the best friends that a person could ask for. I am so thankful to have all of these people in my life and Carter is lucky to have all these wonderful people in his life as well!

As I get ready to go back to work, I would just like to give a quick thanks to those who have been so helpful and supportive for the past six weeks. Whether it was bringing us a meal, sending us a card, stopping by for a visit, or simply calling to see how we were getting along, everyone's love and kindness has been greatly appreciated :) It is certainly true what they say about finding out who your true friends are when you have kids. While there are a few folks who have deserted us since Carter was born, the most important have remained steady in our lives and I had no doubt that they would! So again, thanks to everyone for loving Carter as much as we do! I mean, how could anyone NOT love this little face?!.............

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Yesterday we had Carter's 1 month check up. He's gained quite a bit of weight! He's up to 9.5 lbs and he is now 21 inches long! He's growing like a weed! We finally got some relief too for his acid reflux that we've been battling. In addition to the Zantac the poor guy already has to take, we're now putting a little cereal in his bottle. This has worked like a charm...he hardly spits up now, whereas he was spitting half his bottle up and he can now make it 4 or more hours between feedings as opposed to 2 1/2-3 hours. I'm so happy that he is feeling better and stays full! Unfortunately, the change to cereal had him a little stopped up today, so I gave him a tad bit of apple juice as the doctor recommended. He seems to be feeling better now :)

Tomorrow, Mom and I are taking C-man up to get his pictures taken at Pennys. I'm so excited to see how they turn out! They always seem to do a great job there so I'm hoping we get some really good shots. I'll definitely post those pics when I get them!

I met with my district manager for Avon today so I could get set up to begin selling. I need to complete a few things online and I should be ready to go. I'm so excited to get started!

Enjoy these pics from the last few days!

Bored....

I used to think that I would enjoy being a stay-at-home mom....now I'm not so sure! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being able to spend all day with Carter, but I get bored very easily. There's only so much cleaning and TV watching I can do! Since I get to take Carter to work with me, I'm considering going back next week rather than waiting until the 23rd. However, it all depends on when I get my car back. My car is currently in the shop due to a minor accident I had last Saturday night. I was coming home from OC when I ran into one hell of a t-storm. It was raining and hailing so bad that I couldn't see the highway. I decided to pull off onto a gravel road and wait the storm out but due to lack of visibility, I turned too soon and went into a ditch. Luckily I got right back out, but it still did some damage to the car. However, going back and looking in the light of day, I saw that the accident could have been sooooo much worse. If I had turned a moment sooner, I would have been nose down in a 6 ft. embankment. Guess God was watching over me that night! And thank goodness Carter was at home with Brent :)

This week has been rather uneventful with the exception of yesterday. Carter and I went to Topeka with my mom and grandma. It was a nice day; we ate at IHOP (my favorite) and picked up some groceries. Then Mom and I went to TLEC so Mom's former coworkers could see Carter. It was so great to see everyone and of course they all just loved Carter!

Brent and I will be leaving Carter for the first time ever this weekend. We're going to go bowling Saturday night for Courtney's birthday. While it will be nice to get out for a while, I know we're going to miss him like crazy! Luckily, he will be in good hands with Meema :)

I'm excited to report that as of next week, I will officially be an "AVON Lady!" I've been contemplating becoming an AVON representative and when I learned how easy it is to start up, I said sign me up! I'll be meeting with a gal next week so that I can get everything lined up and then I will officially be ready to start selling. This is very neat for me, b/c I'm following in the footsteps of my Grandma Granger who sold AVON for YEARS!

Happy One Month Birthday Baby Boy

Can you believe Carter is already one month old?! We can't! Time sure does fly, especially when you're having fun :) The past month has been full of sleepless nights, milk stained shirts, bouts of crying, and countless dirty diapers, but most of all bright blue eyes, lots of kisses, rocking & cuddling, and endless love. It's been a joy getting to know our baby boy so far and the adventure has only just begun. We can't wait to finally see you smile :) Happy one month birthday to our little bubba :)

Love,
Mommy & Daddy

Please join me in supporting March of Dimes March for Babies‏

Dear Friends,

On April 24, 2009, I will be walking in support of my good friends, Michelle & Eric Ferrer, and their two precious angels who are up in heaven. As a new mother myself, I believe in this cause now more than ever.

I am very excited to be a part of March for Babies. Please visit my personal webpage if you would like to make a donation.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support :)

Why March for Babies? Because the March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will help:

- support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects

- educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby

- provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care

- push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children

Won't you please help me in this worthy cause? Contributing to my walk online is fast, easy and secure. You can donate directly from my personal webpage with a credit card or PayPal. If you prefer, I can also accept cash or check. Just click the appropriate box on my webpage. Again, thank you so much for your support!

TV Anyone??

So the other day, we caught Carter in the recliner with the remote! Can you believe a 3 week old is capable of such a thing?! At least he was watching ESPN and not soap operas! It looks as though he's pretending to talk on the phone too....Auntie Amanda thinks he's calling up his girlfriend Hallie and telling her it's time to COME OUT AND PLAY!!

We've had busy week around the Gibson house. On Tuesday, Carter and I went to Topeka and had lunch w/ Amanda, Stacey, Judi, and Emily. What a great time! Then we went to KSDE so Carter could meet all of mommy's former co-workers. It was so great to see everyone! Really makes me miss that place! We also stopped by Meema's office so the gals could see their little man. Carter is so lucky to have so many girlfriends already! As you can see, little man was exhausted when we got home :)

On Wednesday, Brent started his new job and Carter and I spent our first day home alone since he was born. It wasn't too bad...Carter got a bath and I caught up on some laundry and chores around the house. But we were both happy when Daddy got home! I think Brent was even more happy to see his little man :)

Yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day so we took advantage and went for a nice long walk. Brent was off yesterday, so he got to go too! It was nice to get out of the house for a while. As long as the weather cooperates, I plan to take Carter on a walk everyday....it will help me loose some of this damn weight! Courtney, Moises, and Noah came over last night. It was so nice to be able to sit in the yard for a change. We had a great time watching Noah play....can't wait until Carter is old enough to be right along side of him!

Brent has to work this weekend, so that sucks, but mom is coming over tomorrow so that will be nice :) Hopefully the rain won't keep us from going on a walk!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Monday, Monday

I can't believe my maternity leave is already half over! Oh how nice it would be if I could just be a stay-at-home mom and never have to go back to work.....Unfortunately, I don't see that in the cards. Thank goodness I get to take Carter to work with me b/c I really don't think I could leave him!

We had a very nice weekend. Auntie Lindsay & Auntie Courtney came to visit Carter on Saturday and Auntie Brianna and Auntie Sue came to visit Sunday (little man sure has a lot of aunties, huh?!). Meema & Papa Bryson and G-ma & G-pa Gibby came to visit yesterday too! We're so thankful for our wonderful family and friends who show Carter so much love :)

Tomorrow we're going to T-town to have lunch w/ my gals from KSDE then taking him up to the building for a visit! I'm so excited for everyone to get to meet him and for the gals to get to see him again!

Mommy is kinda dreading this week though. On Thursday, I was going to court to fight my infamous speeding ticket....ya know, the one issued by "Deputy Douche Bag." I called the district court today to confirm my court time and was informed that you can't just "show up" to fight a speeding ticket; you actually have to schedule a hearing so the officer can be subpoenaed. This royally pissed me off b/c the cop specifically told me if I wanted to protest the fine to come to court on the date written on ticket! If I schedule a hearing and he shows up, there's no way I'll get off! According to the B'game rumor mill, this particular cop issued several of these speeding tickets to numerous residents and apparently several of them called the sheriff and complained (mostly b/c of the whole "private property" thing b/c he was sitting in someones driveway). Supposedly those who complained were refunded their money or their ticket was thrown out. I don't know if this is true, you know how small town rumors fly. I considered calling the sheriff myself to complain, but quickly decided against it. I broke the speed limit and the adult thing to do is to pay the damn ticket rather than call the sheriff and give the whole bit of, "But so-and-so had their ticket thrown out, is my going to get thrown out too??" However, if I receive a refund check in the mail in the coming weeks, I won't be complaining :)

And now, some photos from the weekend...enjoy!
