2 Peas in a Pod

I posted this picture on Facebook last night and Lori P. commented that we looked like 2 peas in a pod, so I thought that would be a great title for this post! This pic. was taken at the 35th Division Association reunion this year in Topeka. My grandpa was in the 35th Division of the Army, in Company C and loved attending these reunions every year. Since he's been gone, my mom takes my grandma to the reunions every year. I've had the pleasure of attending three reunions and since it was in Topeka this year, Carter go to attend his first one! The Company C vets & family are a really a great group of folks, definitely friends you'll keep for life!

Chilly Weekend

Hello Friends! Thank goodness the weekend is here! Last week was HELL. With all the sickness in this house and all the CRAP I had to put up with at work, I was sooooo ready to put last week to rest. Brent had to work this weekend, so Carter & I just hung out at home yesterday and cleaned house & did laundry all day.

We're going to Holly's house this afternoon for a Tupperware party. It will be nice to get out of the house for a little while, even though it's quite chilly outside! But it's so pretty with all the leaves falling. I love fall! We're going to try and get a family picture in our yard next weekend to use on our Christmas cards. I hope they turn out good! Speaking of next weekend, Carter is going to G-ma & G-pa Gibby's house and Brent & I are having a much needed date night! We had plans to go with some friends to a Halloween costume party, but decided we'd rather just go out to eat & see a movie, just the two of us. I am mucho excited!

Hope everyone has a fantastic week ahead of them. Enjoy the pics! (As you will see, someone learned how to get into Mommy's Avon cabinet!)

Sick :-(

Colds have hit the Gibson house this week, but luckily Carter is the least sick out of all three of us. He wasn't feeling very well yesterday (and neither was I) so we both stayed home. Poor Brent had to work yesterday and came home feeling absolutely miserable. I'm glad he is off today so he can get some much needed rest. Carter was feeling better, so I went ahead and took him to Amy's. HOPEFULLY we get over these colds soon and DON'T get the flu! There has been a horrible flu outbreak w/in the Dept. of Revenue, so I've been scared to death I'm going to bring it home with me. No "confirmed" cases of H1N1 yet, but many of the cases are suspected to be H1N1. So needless to say, we're all going to be getting our flu shots very soon!

With the weather we've been having and all the sickness going around, it feels it should be December, not October! And I'm little embarrassed to admit it, but I actually listened to Christmas music on the way to work today! Pathetic I know (it's not even Halloween yet!) but I LOVE Christmas and I'm so excited for the season to be here! This year will be extra special too b/c it will be Carter's first Christmas! We were at Sam's Club a couple days ago and they already have their Christmas trees on display. I wheeled the cart up to one and Carter was amazed by all the lights! I can't wait to see what he thinks about our family tree this year.

Welp, break's over, gotta get back to work. Happy Thursday to everyone!

Waving

We have a morning ritual in our house. Every morning when Carter wakes up, who ever picks him up first takes him to the mirror in the bathroom or the mirror in our bedroom so he can see himself. He loves it and he thinks it's hilarious! It's just a great way to start the day. He always smiles so big and laughs and laughs at that little person looking back at him. Well this morning, we got up, and we looked in the mirror, and guess what little man did......he started waving back at the mirror! At first I thought it was just coincidental, but then it became obvious he knew exactly what he was doing! It was the cutest thing ever. We'll try to get a pic or a video of it up here soon!

I can't believe how cold is it outside! Brent has to work for a little while today, so Carter and I have plans to stay inside & keep warm! Hopefully little man will let me get my housework & laundry done this morning so we play & relax the rest of the day. Have a happy Saturday!

8 Months Old!

Hard to believe the little man turned 8 months old yesterday! Time sure does fly. Not much new to report. Carter finally mastered going from a sitting position to his hands and knees just earlier this evening. He's eating lots of new foods. He loves mandarin oranges & peaches (cut up very small of course), cottage cheese & toast. He's even getting pretty good about feeding himself pieces of the fruit! We finally got Bubba a new big boy carseat last weekend. This one is rear and front facing and goes up to 50lbs, so we should be able to use it for a long time! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

This is how he woke up one morning!
