6 Month Check-Up

Carter had his 6 month check-up and shots last Friday. He now weighs 16.4 lbs and is 26 inches long. Growing like a weed! He's only in the 25th percentile for his weight, but in comparison to his height, his BMI is in the 50th percentile, so he's doing great! This round of shots saw Carter getting poked 3 times instead of 2, but he took it like a champ! He cried for maybe 5 minutes and then he was okay! However, he did run a fever Friday night into Saturday morning. It makes me so mad that something that is supposed to HELP your baby can make them sick! But, I guess this is the lesser of two evils.

Carter went to daycare at Amy's house last Thursday, then started full time yesterday and he's doing GREAT!! He only had one bout with fussiness yesterday and that of course was attributed to our good friend (foe actually) TEETHING! Yes, we're BACK on the teething path again. Poor little man just gnaws on everything in sight! But this time I have a feeling the teeth are close, VERY close to popping through....I sure hope so anyway!

On a crappy note, Carter's poor little head still has a pretty bad flat spot on the back right side. I'm a little pissed at our pediatrician b/c I voiced concern over this at his 4 month check-up and she said he was just fine, that all babies have misshapen heads and that it would eventually even out, nothing to worry about. Ha! On Friday, she decided that maybe there WAS a problem with his poor little head and called us in a referral to a Craniofacial doctor at Children's Mercy in Overland Park. She said there is a possibility that he could have to wear one of those HIDEOUS helmets! God I hope that doesn't happen. I would feel soooo bad for Carter if he had to wear one of those. I'm really worried about the whole thing though. We go to the doctor on September 11, which is a crappy day anyway. In the meantime, Brent and I are ensuring that he sleeps on his left side every night, in hopes that we can get it to even out on it's own. Wish us luck!

My KDOR Going-Away Party

Thanks to all my friends and auties at Mommy's office for being so good to me duing my 4 1/2 month stay. I know I had some rough days, but you were all so helpful to Mommy and you sure loved me! I will miss you all lots!!! See you soon!!

I hope you enjoy these pictures of me from my going-away party and me getting into my ice cream cake! (Don't worry, I didn't eat as much frosting as it appears so in these pictures!) I was more interested in eating it off Mommy's fingers than my own anyway!

Loneliness

Well, I'm in my first week without Carter at work with me and it SUCKS!!! I thought I was ready for him to go to daycare, but when his last day with me arrived, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I miss my little man so much and so does everyone else here at work! Things just aren't the same without him here. It will definitely take some getting used to, but I know things will be alright in the long run. I still need to put pictures up from his going away party at KDOR. He was a real hoot with his ice-cream cake! In the meantime, enjoy some previews of his 6-month pics that we got taken this weekend!

6 Months Old!

6 months ago today, a beautiful baby boy entered this world. He has since filled our hearts with love, laughter, and joy. There were times when we didn't know what we were doing but our love for you got us through every time. It's hard to imagine what life was like before you came along! You melt our hearts every morning when you wake up and look up at us with your great big grin. You learn something new every day and it's so amazing to watch. We can't wait to see you grow more and more and we're so excited for what the future will bring :-) Happy 6 month birthday Bubba!

Sitting Up On My Own!....kinda

Look at me! I'm starting to sit up on my own finally! Even though I kinda lean forward, I'm still making great progress! Maybe I will be sitting up on my own by 6 mo. after all! My bottom teeth still haven't popped through, but they are very close. I wish they'd just hurry up! Mommy and Daddy have been giving me fruit & veggies both every day now. I love it! They're yummy! My favorite veggies are squash & sweet potatoes (this was Mommy's favorite when she was a baby too!) and my favorite fruits are apples & pears. Tonight I heard Mommy & Daddy discussing starting me on some 2nd foods when I turn 6 months. I sure hope they do because I need some variety! This is my last week at work with Mommy :-( My friends at KDOR are throwing me a going-away party on Thursday. I will be sure to have Mommy post some pictures from it! Hope evyone enjoys these pics of me and Maggie playing together too :-)
