Short Week!

Hello everyone! Hope that this short holiday week finds everyone doing well. We're pretty stoked for the 4th of July. It's such a fun holiday! Although Carter won't be interested in the fireworks this year, we're still looking forward to celebrating his first 4th of July!

The past week has been kind of a roller coaster with the C-man. The whole teething thing is STILL going on, and we still have yet to see any actual teeth pop through! His two bottom & top teeth and the two top fangs are there, you can see the white and everything, they just won't come on through! It's torture for the poor kid! We've also been battling the beginnings of the "Mama's Boy Syndrome" as I like to call it. It was hell trying to clean house and do laundry this weekend! But on a good note, Carter is really making progress with his rolling over and attempting to sit up. I'm hoping within the next couple weeks he'll be sitting up on his own. Carter has also picked up on spitting, sticking his tongue out at you, blowing raspberries, pulling hair, grabbing face, and hard core head butting. And as you'll see in the following pictures, his body just can't quite keep up with the growth of his giant melon, so those head butts kinda hurt :-) We also had to invest in a new bath chair b/c the 'ole baby bath tub just wasn't working out anymore. By the end of his bath, Carter would be laying sideways in the tub b/c he's such a squirmy butt! The chair works MUCH better!The horrible heat has kinda put a damper on our outside time, but we still try to take the little guy out for a little while in the evenings once it's cooled off a bit. I can't believe how much the kid loves to be outside. He can be screaming his head off in the house and the instant you step outdoors, he's fine! Walk back in the house, and it's screaming again! I hope he continues to love the outdoors as he gets older b/c Brent and I love to be outside too. Plus, I would much rather have a kid likes to be outside playing than sitting in front of the TV! We took Carter to the lake last Friday night to see G-ma & G-pa Gibson. Thank God for the camper so we could retreat to the A/C for a while, but of course someone just wanted to be outside instead, so after supper we took Bubba on a nice long walk and he fell fast asleep!

Aww Mom, I look like a girl!
Much Better!Happy boy at the lake!
Well, enjoy the pics and I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

4 Months!

Hello friends! Last Monday, June 8, Carter turned 4 months old! We can't believe how fast he is growing up. He is truly turning into a little man. The downside to the 4 month milestone is more shots :-{

I took Carter in on Friday to see Dr. Heeb and get the dreaded shots. He did really well though! He is such a tough little boy. He now weighs 14.5 lbs and is 25" long. The doctor said we could start him on veggies if we wanted. Since he's been eating cereal for so long, she thought his digestive system would be able to handle the veggies. She told us to start with the greens b/c they taste the worst so we should get them out of the way first. That was a big mistake though. After two days of Carter going through what seemed to be agonizing stomach pain, I did some research online & talked to some co-workers and it turns out you should start them on the orange veggies first b/c the green ones cause major gas problems. That makes total sense! I'm a little perturbed that our doctor didn't bother to tell me that but at any rate we're going to give him a couple days veggie free to get his digestive system back on track and then start with some carrots.

Carter is still teething but we have yet to see any actual teeth come through. However, his bottom teeth are soooo close to coming in. You can see two little white slivers! He has his good days and bad, and the bad days are BAD. I hope they come in soon so he's not in so much pain. Poor little guy!!

Bubba is still doing really well on holding his head and is trying his damnest to sit up. It won't be long! He discovered his feet a few weeks ago, but has really become interested in them just in the past week. He's always grabbing them and I'm sure it won't be long before they're in his mouth! I even caught him pulling his foot up while sitting in his high-chair. At first I thought he was trying to escape! He's laughing more and more everyday and trying so hard to talk! He just babbles on and on...I can't wait until we can actually understand what he's saying! (but that's still a few months away :})

Enjoy the pictures below. Most of them are from Carter's first time eating green beans & peas and from when he got ahold of his cereal bowl after he was finished eating. There's also a video that proves little man isn't the only one who doesn't care for peas! (Just ignore the annoying person talking in the background).

The Wrath of Teething :{

Let me just say that I have symphathy for every single parent out there b/c teething is a NIGHTMARE! We had an especially bad day last Thursday. We actually had to leave work a few minutes early b/c Carter had a complete meltdown and there was NOTHING that would make him happy. I feel so bad for him; I know he's in a great deal of pain, and Tylenol, teething tablets, pain relief gel, and teething rings don't seem to help!! Anyone who has any suggestions for teething remedies, please, I'm all ears!!

I left Carter at home with Brent on Friday, just in case he had another bad day, I thought it would be better if he was at home. But of course, he was a perfect angel for daddy!

We had a pretty good weekend as well, with only a few bouts of fussiness. We're guessing that maybe the tooth wasn't quite ready to break through yet b/c it seems it's snuck back up. However, it's only a matter of time before it will pop out again!

Something I forgot to mention in last week's post is that Carter is now eating off a spoon! We figured since he already takes cereal in his bottle for his reflux, why not put it in a bowl and try out the spoon?? The sooner he learns to eat off the spoon, the easier transition we'll have to solid feeding. He's doing really well with it too! Of course, he wants to stick both fists in his mouth after taking a bite, which creates quite the mess for Mommy to clean up, but that's the fun part, right?

One last note; Bubba FINALLY decided to smile for the camera this weekend! In fact, he was quite intrigued by the camera. Maybe he'll be a cheezer after all! Have a great week everyone :-)
