Week 2 of this Healthy Thing

So my first week on my new healthy lifestyle plan went ok. Not great, just ok. I did really well on my eating throughout the whole week, but then on Friday, I was coerced to eat lunch at Pizza Hut with my buds Stacey & Amanda :) Then on Saturday, Brent & Carter & I went to Topeka, so we ate at Wendys..strike 2. Then after cleaning house & doing laundry all day Sunday, we really weren't in the mood to cook, so we ordered Chinese food from Jade Garden in OC (YUMMY!!!)...strike 3....and then I ate the left-overs on Sunday :( Oh, and to top it off, I only worked out that one time last week. Although, I guess all the running around, chasing after Carter that I do at home EVERYDAY could be considered a work-out! But, after all that, I still managed to loose 1 pound, so that's a bonus. I really thought I'd gain! And, another good note, after I weighed myself last week to get my "starting" weight, I realized that I've lost 5 lbs since the last time I weighed myself, which was Christmas Eve. So technically, I could make my goal to loose only 10 lbs, but I'm sticking with 15. I know I can do this, I just have to set my mind to it!!

On the Carter news front....he's doing awesome and still ornery as ever! We've been busy this week planning his 1st Birthday Party!! The guest list is so long that we had to rent a place to have the party! It would be nice to have it at home, but there's no way we can comfortably fit everyone in our house, even if we send half of them to the basement! So, we've rented the OC Senior Center out. It's a great place for events, very large, very clean, and very nice! It has a huge kitchen too, which makes clean-up easier. Mom & I went to Party America a couple nights ago and got the supplies....we're having a John Deere party! I just need to get a few more things, order the cake, and of course get the invitations out! I think I'm more excited than the birthday boy!

Well we got our computer back last week, but unfortunately it STILL has a stupid virus!!! I don't know how we're getting these viruses. We really don't do a lot of web surfing. We mainly just stick to the same ole sites. We don't even do all of those stupid applications on Facebook that are known to carry viruses. It's so frustrating!! So until it gets fixed again, I can't upload any pictures from my camera, which is double frustrating!! Luckily, my mommy was kind enough to share these photos with me that she took yesterday on "Carterday." Enjoy!

Standing Alone

Last night, Brent & I were playing with Carter in his room and he pulled up his ball-popper toy, stood there for a second, let go, and he was still standing! He stood there for probably about 15 seconds before he fell down. And where was my camera???? Dead. Poop. So I don't have a picture of him standing alone, but I do have a really cute picture of him that Mom took yesterday :)

New Year = New Me

So I know this blog has mostly been dedicated to the journey of raising Carter, but I've decided to start a new healthy regimen and thought this might be a good place to talk about it. I've found that if I can document and talk out loud about everything, it really helps me on my endeavor to LOOSE WEIGHT!

You guessed it, with the new year upon us, I have decided that it's time to loose ALL of that baby weight. I've lost quite a bit of it, but still have some to go.

Reasons I Want to Drop the Pounds:
1. To feel better about myself
2. So that my clothes fit better
3. Just to be a healthier person
4. Summer isn't as far off as it may seem and summer=pool=swim suit!
5. My cousin's wedding July 31 (I'm the matron of honor)

Right now, I have 15 lbs to go to get to my pre-baby weight. I'd like to loose 5-10 lbs on top of that, but for now, I'm setting my goal to loose 15 lbs. After I hit that, I'll set a new goal.

I've decided that I'm NOT calling this a diet b/c I HATE diets and I LOVE eating! I'm not going to deny myself the things I want to eat, I just have to be smarter about how I eat them. But I am eating healthier, eating more fruits and vegetables, eating foods that are high in fiber & protein, and foods that are low in fat & calories of course. I know, sounds like a diet, but I refuse to call it that! But most of all, I'm eating less JUNK! And I have to say, I'm very proud of myself....someone brought donuts to work yesterday, and I passed and ate my bagel for breakfast instead. For those of you who don't know, I LOVE LOVE LOVE donuts, so this was a major breakthrough for me!

I plan to accompany the healthy eating with exercise......which I really hate. I don't mind walking, I actually love to go for walks, but until the snow is gone, I don't think I'll be going outside for walks. So, my plan is to utilize my vast collection of barely used fitness DVD's and videos. (FYI: I'm a sucker for fitness-infomercials......and notorious for not following through with them). I actually worked out for about 30 minutes last night and felt OUT OF SHAPE afterward!! The main problem I'm going to run into with working out is finding the time to do so. I'm really going to have to start managing my time better and stop making excuses!

I started this whole thing on Monday, but I don't have a scale at home so I'm not exactly sure of my starting weight, but I have a pretty good idea what it was. I plan to weigh myself on my mom's scale tonight so I can get a rough idea of where I'm at. I'll be "weighing-in" at Mom's house every Wednesday (the days she watches Carter). Wish me luck!!

Hands Off!

Told you he doesn't like to share.....

11 Months Old

Well I'm only 4 days late, but Carter is now 11 months old! Wow, I can't believe we're that much closer to the 1 YEAR MARK!

Carter is becoming more and more mobile everyday, and with that, he is becoming increasingly ornery! He is in to EVERYTHING and always playing with something he shouldn't be. It amazes me that with all of the toys he has, he'd always rather play with something he shouldn't, like cords, the vacuum cleaner, the toilet, Maggie's food dish....you get the picture. I know, I know, he's no different from any other 11 month old, but it seems so much worse when it's your own kid!

Little man's got quite the 'tude on him too! He's very impatient, hates sharing, and is becoming quite the fit thrower, especially when he has to do something he doesn't want to do. Gee, he kinda sounds like his mama, doesn't he?! Even my dad jokes that Carter shares my lack of patience and ability to become frustrated so easily!

But more importantly, he's at an age where he's learning by leaps and bounds and it's amazing to watch. He's so funny and knows how to make us laugh. And he knows he's a little stud :)

Our computer's been on the fritz again, more viruses!! It's fixed now and I'm picking it up after work today. So, please enjoy these pics that I've uploaded from my phone, rather than camera.

2010 Has Arrived!

Happy New Year....a few days late! Hope everyone enjoyed a nice New Years Eve. Brent and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on the 31st! It doesn't seem like it's been that long...time sure does fly! Fortunately, Brent was off NY Eve & NY Day, so we went to Nortonville to ring in the new year w/ our good friends Amanda & Andy and Stacey & Jesse. We had a great time! And Brent has been off all weekend, so we've enjoyed a nice lazy, relaxing weekend at home. Not much we could go outside and do anyway since it has snowed.....again!

Carter is doing awesome with his new "daycare" schedule. It's not really daycare I guess. He goes to either Grandma Gibby's or Meema's house on the days Brent works and the rest of the time he stays home with Daddy. He seems to really being loving it!

Our little man is quite active these days. He's not walking (or standing on his own yet), but he pulls up to EVERYTHING and cruises around everything and gets into everything that he shouldn't! He's also getting really good at playing peek-a-boo & pat-a-cake. I just wish he was a little older so we could take him out to play in the snow b/c I know he'd have a ball. Oh well, we'll just have to wait until next year!

Have a great week everyone!
