4 Months!

Hello friends! Last Monday, June 8, Carter turned 4 months old! We can't believe how fast he is growing up. He is truly turning into a little man. The downside to the 4 month milestone is more shots :-{

I took Carter in on Friday to see Dr. Heeb and get the dreaded shots. He did really well though! He is such a tough little boy. He now weighs 14.5 lbs and is 25" long. The doctor said we could start him on veggies if we wanted. Since he's been eating cereal for so long, she thought his digestive system would be able to handle the veggies. She told us to start with the greens b/c they taste the worst so we should get them out of the way first. That was a big mistake though. After two days of Carter going through what seemed to be agonizing stomach pain, I did some research online & talked to some co-workers and it turns out you should start them on the orange veggies first b/c the green ones cause major gas problems. That makes total sense! I'm a little perturbed that our doctor didn't bother to tell me that but at any rate we're going to give him a couple days veggie free to get his digestive system back on track and then start with some carrots.

Carter is still teething but we have yet to see any actual teeth come through. However, his bottom teeth are soooo close to coming in. You can see two little white slivers! He has his good days and bad, and the bad days are BAD. I hope they come in soon so he's not in so much pain. Poor little guy!!

Bubba is still doing really well on holding his head and is trying his damnest to sit up. It won't be long! He discovered his feet a few weeks ago, but has really become interested in them just in the past week. He's always grabbing them and I'm sure it won't be long before they're in his mouth! I even caught him pulling his foot up while sitting in his high-chair. At first I thought he was trying to escape! He's laughing more and more everyday and trying so hard to talk! He just babbles on and on...I can't wait until we can actually understand what he's saying! (but that's still a few months away :})

Enjoy the pictures below. Most of them are from Carter's first time eating green beans & peas and from when he got ahold of his cereal bowl after he was finished eating. There's also a video that proves little man isn't the only one who doesn't care for peas! (Just ignore the annoying person talking in the background).

The Wrath of Teething :{

Let me just say that I have symphathy for every single parent out there b/c teething is a NIGHTMARE! We had an especially bad day last Thursday. We actually had to leave work a few minutes early b/c Carter had a complete meltdown and there was NOTHING that would make him happy. I feel so bad for him; I know he's in a great deal of pain, and Tylenol, teething tablets, pain relief gel, and teething rings don't seem to help!! Anyone who has any suggestions for teething remedies, please, I'm all ears!!

I left Carter at home with Brent on Friday, just in case he had another bad day, I thought it would be better if he was at home. But of course, he was a perfect angel for daddy!

We had a pretty good weekend as well, with only a few bouts of fussiness. We're guessing that maybe the tooth wasn't quite ready to break through yet b/c it seems it's snuck back up. However, it's only a matter of time before it will pop out again!

Something I forgot to mention in last week's post is that Carter is now eating off a spoon! We figured since he already takes cereal in his bottle for his reflux, why not put it in a bowl and try out the spoon?? The sooner he learns to eat off the spoon, the easier transition we'll have to solid feeding. He's doing really well with it too! Of course, he wants to stick both fists in his mouth after taking a bite, which creates quite the mess for Mommy to clean up, but that's the fun part, right?

One last note; Bubba FINALLY decided to smile for the camera this weekend! In fact, he was quite intrigued by the camera. Maybe he'll be a cheezer after all! Have a great week everyone :-)

Busy Busy Busy!

Hello friends! Sorry it's been soooo long since our last post. The beautiful spring weather has us spending tons of time outside, not leaving much time for the computer! However, Carter has made some amazing leaps and bounds in just the past two weeks!

Last weekend, I got out his Bumbo seat to see if he was ready to sit in it yet. They say you're not supposed to use them until baby can hold his head up all by himself, but he's SO close so I thought, why not give it a try! He does really well sitting in it. He does a pretty good job of keeping his head up, but I do catch him looking down a little bit. For those of you who don't know, a Bumbo seat is this AWESOME invention for little ones that helps ease into the process of sitting up on their own. I highly recommend them for all babies :)
Bubba has become quite the talker over the past few weeks! He just babbles on and on forever and it's sooooo incredibly cute! He's really doing a great job of making out most of the vowel sounds too. He's also smiling TONS and even laughing now. Of course, every time I get the camera out, he won't smile for me! I think he gets that from his dad :P

We've discovered that our little man isn't too fond of day-time naps. If we can actually get him to sleep, he usually will only nap for 15 or 20 minutes and he's awake again. I guess he thinks he's going to miss something! However, I shouldn't complain too much about naps, b/c he is finally sleeping completely through the night, which has REALLY helped Mom & Dad :)

Last Friday, we had a very surprising thing happen....Carter started teething, which has really turned into a nightmare! I couldn't believe that a 3 1/2 month old could already be teething, but sure enough, he's got a tiny little tooth starting to poke through on the top. My grandma informed me that my mom got her first tooth at 4 months, so maybe Carter is following in Meema's footsteps!

Memorial weekend found us very busy and Brent & I attended a BBQ at Courtney & Moises' house on Saturday night. So Carter enjoyed his first overnight stay with Grandma & Grandpa Gibson and he did WONDERFULLY! Especially considering he was teething! I guess G-ma & G-pa must have that special touch b/c he hardly got fussy at all and he slept through the night for them too! Carter also got to visit his Great Grandma Mardell on Saturday night!

Thank goodness this is a short work week b/c we are all exhausted! Hope everyone enjoys their short week too :)

Happy Mothers Day!

What a great weekend we've had! Our little Carter turned THREE MONTHS OLD on Friday!! I can't believe he's growing so fast! We enjoyed a nice relaxing day at home on Saturday and an even better day today. My first Mothers Day was awesome. I feel so blessed to be a mother! Carter, Maggie, and Brent got me a beautiful bouquet of roses, a movie, and a new Swiffer vacuum! (supposedly they work wonders on dog hair, I sure hope so!) Brent also cooked me breakfast this morning...pancakes and bacon, my favorite! We had a very busy day...we went to Osage to see Great-Grandma Mardell and Grandma Gibson and had lunch with them & the rest of the fam. Then we went to visit Great-Great Grandma Ruby & Grandma Janette. Then back to B'game to see Great-Grandma Jean & Meema. It was so great so see everyone and of course everyone just loved seeing little man! Hope everyone has a great week!

Better late than never right??

Sorry it's been so long since our last post! Life with a little one sure does keep us busy! Carter is doing great, growing like a weed for sure. He's in such a fun stage right now and seems to do something new & exciting each day. He's awake much more and always so alert (in fact, we call him our little insomniac b/c he's awake more than he's asleep!) I can't believe how squirmy he is now! He's constantly on the move, I swear he's going to be crawling before we know it! He is doing an awesome job at holding his head up too. He's also mastered the art of sticking his tongue out! He will mimic us when we stick our tongue out at him, it's so cute!! I can't believe he will be 3 months old in just a few days!! Ok, ok, now for the good stuff, the pictures (I know that everyone looks forward to the most!) Have a great week :)
